Dustin Rogers – Sep 2021 Volunteer of the Month

The Hill BMX Staff would like to introduce you to Dustin Rogers. Dustin is our September Volunteer of the Month!

Dustin has been instrumental in registration technology advancements and has been successful at propelling us into the 21st Century with our new addition of online/live motos! Dustin has embraced the registration process and has been working not only at the track, but at home to process and transmit our TORF/TORP files to USA BMX.
Dustin is a member of The Hill BMX Team.
Check out Dustin, in his own words:

Tell me about yourself:
I’m a 39 year old self employed husband and father to my amazing wife Katey of 13 years and 2 daughters Olivia (7) and Aria (5). We are Elgin locals and have our Doberman Kona, 2 cats Ally and Maribelle, as well as a bird, frog, and snail. Katey is a graphic artist and the girls both attend Lincoln Elementary School.

What’s the most rewarding part about volunteering?
I really enjoy giving back to a sport that gives me so much joy. I love watching my kids enjoy riding their bikes and I love bringing new people into our sport that have never tried it before. When you see the enjoyment that people get and the smiles shoot across their faces after the first time riding the track it allows me to remember and almost experience that same feeling again for myself, it’s truly an amazing feeling. Watching them improve and challenge themselves to get better and faster every week is so rewarding.

What is your current volunteer job at The Hill?
I run registration, and upload scoring. I have run concessions, the gate, as well as corner marshalled. Basically anywhere I can be of help!

How did you get into BMX?
I rode a lot when I was younger but never raced. I didn’t take my first trip around a racetrack until I was 38 years old! So you’re never too old to start racing!

What do you do in your free time?
I love spending time with my family, we enjoy watching movies, doing projects around the house, and riding BMX either skate parks, racing, or just a stroll around the block.

Thank you, Dustin for everything you do for the riders and families at The Hill BMX!
